The following policies and rules apply to the whole GTAFanon Wiki Community, which covers everyone that have interacted and/or contributed to GTAFanon Wiki at any capacity, regardless of their position. Please read before contributing, and don’t hesitate to ask questions or share suggestions to the staff.

General Rules

Canon and Fanon

Canon is anything that is established in the GTA Universe (2D, 3D, HD, or further) by Rockstar Games themselves. You can use canonical elements in your works, just make sure to avoid the restrictions listed below.

Fanon are original ideas that are inspired by canon. You can make it as an expansion of their established universe (2D, 3D, HD, or further) or make your own universe/continuation (such as 4K Universe by JackJackson17).

No Leaked Materials

You are not allowed to make use of unofficial leaked information in your works.

No Direct Sequels

You are not allowed to name your works with the numeral system from GTA mainline series (ex. GTA VII, VIII, IX..). Only Rockstar has the right to make such games.

No Crossovers With Non-Rockstar Franchises

You are not allowed to make a crossover between the GTA Universe and other media not made by Rockstar Games (video games, films, series, literatures), such as making a Saint Row-GTA crossover, or a GTA-Spongebob crossover.

No Jokey/Silly Contents

We have histories of poorly-made jokey contents such as a GTA about a killer clown and animatronics; or a Ryder x CJ's mom fanfictions. We don't want to see that ever again.

Any pages violating any of said restrictions will be deleted immediately and its author will receive a warning from staff. If the author repeats these actions, they will face a two-week block.

Fanworks

The following are contents that you can make in this wiki. Read “Policy: Articles” and “Tutorials” for guides in writing one.

Projects

Projects are elaborate fiction works around GTA Universe:

  • Community Projects - Fanmade games, DLCs, or fanfictions that are open for any user to collaborate.
  • Fangames - Fan made GTA titles or single-player expansions for existing GTA titles. Regarded as individual work of the author unless they invite collaborators.
  • Updates - Fan made GTA Online multiplayer contents. Regarded as individual work of the author unless they invite collaborators.
  • Fanfictions - Fan made stories set in the GTA universe, such as continuous stories, short stories, in-game events, and fangame’s missions.

Any projects that are a month or older may be included in the projects indexes with staff’s permission. Only well-written and well-organized projects can pass.

Other Contents

Other Contents are simpler fiction works which may or may not be parts of projects. This includes characters, factions, locations, brands like car manufacturers, vehicles, radio stations, and others.

Except for countries and cities that haven't been featured in post 2DU GTA series (such as London), you cannot create a page of things from the real-world (ex. no making a page about real-life figures).

Modifications

Articles about downloadable modifications of GTA games, such as GTA Underground, DYOM missions, or car mods, are not permitted in this wiki. You can, however, use mod in multimedia format to your projects/contents to help visualize them better. For example, making a custom character model for your fanmade character.

Articles

Any article that does not meet the guidelines below (i.e. non-English, have poor grammar, or a copy of GTA Wiki's articles) will be deleted. First offense will result in a warning, second offense is a 1-3 month block. Third offense after the first block results in an infinite block. So please read first before making an article.

Making an article

If you are new here, please ask permission of any staff first before making any project/content. Message them with some words of what you're planning to add into the wiki or post it on our Discussion Forum).

Article's Title

  • Every article must have a proper title.
  • If your article happens to have a similar title to an existing article, you must include “(author username/project name)” in your article’s title to distinguish it. For example: Family Ties and Family Ties (KoTH).
  • If your article is a different version of an existing canonical element, you must include “(author username/project name)” in your article’s title. For example: El Burro (SFTB) or Los Santos (Los Santos Chronicles)

Originality

  • Do not publish the works of someone else from outside the wiki without their consent.
  • Do not copy and paste articles from the GTA Wiki, please respect the GTA Wiki contributors. In the case of a canon article, you only have to write down what you’ve changed. For example, If you want to make a GTA V’s expansion fangame about Franklin Clinton’s past, you only need to write about his role in the fangame, no need to copy-paste his existing info from GTA Wiki.

Claiming

You can protect your creation from being edited by other users by adding the {{Owner}} template to the top of the page. Unless specified in the template, no other user can edit that page without the user's permission. If they do, they will automatically be blocked for 1 month, no questions asked. Staff are excused from this policy.

Language and Grammar

  • All articles must be primarily written in English.
  • Articles must have a readable formatting. No overly long paragraphs with no breaks.
  • Articles must have proper grammar. No ch4t5p34K, L33T, txtspeak, shortened wording (such as "u", "thnx", and "lolz") are permitted in articles. Keep in mind that this language is allowed on interactions, but to a minimal extent.

Article's Length

Any content article must at the very least include a template and a short description. As for fangames, the article must include at least a description, a complete story premise, a short list of characters, and information of where the story sets. You can’t call it a fangame when it's merely a list of weapons/vehicles. This is to forbid users from spamming short articles

Article's Category

Every article must have at least one category, otherwise it will be deleted. The following categories are used for projects:

In addition to the categories above, all types of project must also include a category for which universe it sets. For example: “Category:HD Universe” for fanmade GTA IV DLCs. If you make your own custom universe, don't forget to place its category and main page (if any) in the "Category:Universes".

For other kinds of content, these categories are used. You must also put articles for projects in a separate subcategory, such as "Category:Characters in (Project Name)". Check each category's page for rules of using subcategories. Do not add unnecessary categories as it will also be a punishable offense.

Multimedia

Multimedia includes any media file that is posted here: image, video, artwork, audio, and other files.

  • Image/video names must be descriptive. For example, if the image is a fan-made box-art, a good name would be "GTAGame-BoxArt" or something along those lines. An unacceptable name would be "IMG_1972873917UAIQN" or any other nonsense or unnamed title of that sort. Files that fail to follow this policy will be deleted.
  • Unnecessary files or files that do not relate to GTA, or the content of the article it was uploaded for, will be deleted.
  • Blurry images/videos will be deleted.
  • Files that are uploaded but not used in any article will be deleted.
  • Poorly drawn paint artworks will be deleted.
  • Inappropriate, gruesome, or pornographic images/videos posted will be immediately deleted and the uploader will be permanently blocked without any notice.
  • In addition to the general rules above, we advised you to seek permission from the original artwork's creator in case it's not your own works. This is especially true for vehicle-related multimedia such as modded pictures and sketches.

If a sockpuppet account is detected, both accounts will immediately receive a permanent block, no questions asked.

Meatpuppetry is soliciting other people to come to the wiki in order to influence the editorial process in a topic or discussion. A "meat puppet" is another editor that has been solicited to sway consensus.

Conclusion

This is a wiki, where users are encouraged to put what they want onto pages, provided it is GTA anon and does not go against any of the policies shown. So, please have fun here, work together, and be nice. Or else :)
